MINNEAPOLIS – Boston Children’s Hospital, the nation’s #1 ranked children’s hospital by US News & World Report, has selected VitalHealth Software’s QuestLink® for implementation of the International Consortium for Health Outcomes Measurement (ICHOM) Standard Set for Cleft Lip and Palate. The Cleft Lip and Palate Standard Set is one of the Standard Sets supported by QuestLink. Other Standard Sets include Low Back Pain, Stroke, Lung Cancer, etc.
VitalHealth Software is a leading global provider of web-based solutions for collaborative health management established by Mayo Clinic and the Noaber Foundation. QuestLink has been certified by ICHOM to support the efficient gathering of the patient-reported outcomes (PROs) included in ICHOM’s Standard Sets.
“Boston Children’s Hospital is at the forefront of pediatric medicine and is consistently ranked the best pediatric facility in the nation. VitalHealth is delighted that they have selected our QuestLink solution to help them gather important outcomes information. This information can help Boston Children’s Hospital continue to set a high standard of care for children and help disseminate best practices around the world,” says Les Wold, MD, VitalHealth’s Chief Medical Officer.
QuestLink implementation at Boston Children’s Hospital is targeted to go live at the beginning of October 2015. This will make Boston Children’s the first children’s hospital in the United States to collect ICHOM Standard Sets electronically.
“Measuring the outcomes of children treated for cleft lip and palate will allow Boston Children’s Hospital to improve upon the care they offer and, in time, to compare their outcomes with those delivered by other organizations around the world,” says Jessica Aisenbrey, Vice President of Implementation at ICHOM. “We are pleased that Boston Children’s will collect the Cleft Lip and Palate Standard Set using QuestLink, one of our Certified Suppliers.”
“QuestLink can allow parents and guardians to answer questions on behalf of the patient. That capability is very beneficial for Boston Children’s Hospital, especially for their youngest patients who cannot yet speak for themselves,” says Wold.
The International Consortium for Health Outcomes Measurement (ICHOM) is an independent non-profit organization dedicated to unlocking the power of value-based health care. At ICHOM, we believe that outcomes are the true measure of quality in health care, and that only by measuring the outcomes that matter most to patients can we improve value for patients. In pursuit of this goal, we define Standard Sets (minimum data sets) of health outcomes and associated risk factors for specific medical conditions, support the adoption of outcomes measurement in routine practice, facilitate improvement through global learning communities, and engage stakeholders to promote transparency and reporting of performance.
