The VitalHealth Team
October 2007
VitalHealth Software is growing
In
the last several months, VitalHealth has grown to a company with about
40 employees actively contributing to our success. Of these, several
are located in India and the United States. This expansion has provided
us with additional capacity to meet the growing demand for software for
integrated care networks and multi-disease management. The professional
and motivated VitalHealth team is committed to providing better care!
Together with our partner D4H - a company in which we acquired an
interest earlier this year - we now have about 70 people actively
working on disease management and integrated care. This makes us the
largest and most experienced provider in the dutch market.
Joint project of D4H and VitalHealth
In
our last newsletter we informed you of the new relationship with our
consulting and implementation partner Diagnosis4Health. In the mean
time this relationship has strengthened to a solid partnership, that
guarantees successful implementations of integrated care networks and
disease management projects. Last May, Diagnosis4Health and Vital
started a Vital for Diabetes project in the Almelo region in the
Netherlands. About 80 family medicine physicians are now actively
working with our software, with enthousiastic feedback. The positive
response is living proof of the fact that robust software and solid
implementation experience are essential ingredients to implementation
projects. Our partnership guarantees a successful implementation and
adoption of Vital for Diabetes.
New release Vital for Diabetes 2.1
In
July 2007, VitalHealth has released a new and improved version of Vital
for Diabetes. This 2.1 version adds specific functional capabilities
over and above the already robust prior version. For instance, we
increased the number of decision support rules that e.g. alert care
givers of abnormal lab values or vitals of a patient, or indicate that
an eye or foot exam is due. Next to that, the solution has been
enriched with powerful graphing capabilities, as well as standardized
risk calculations for e.g. adverse smoking effects or heart failure.
The solution now supports referrals to providers inside or outside a
care network, including the workflow and communication between the
providers as well as authorized second line specialists. Accounting has
been automated, leaving full control to the practice over timing and
details.
New release VitalHealth Platform 2.03
Last
August we released a new version 2.03 of our VitalHealth Platform. The
VitalHealth Platform is the software framework based on which we model
all our solutions. In this new release we have added a significant
number of new features and functions, making it an even more powerful
framewrok for solution development and modeling.
Vital for COPD - Astma
Together
with Diagnosis4Health, VitalHealth Software is nearing the completion
of Vital for COPD-Asthma. This solution completey conforms to the
latest national standards and guidelines for COPD-Asthma integrated
care. This makes VitalHealth Software the first and only provider that
completely supports these guidelines. Apart from that, we are about to
complete our first life-style coaching application: Vital to Quit
Smoking. This month we have started several pilot projects with this
software. With these additions to the existing portfolio we are making
integrated care and co-morbid chronic disease management for patients a
welcome reality.
Vital for Rare Diseases, UMC Utrecht
In
our previous newsletter we mentioned that UMC Utrecht selected
VitalHealth Software as the solution provider for a Rare Diseases
project, led by Dr. R. Fijnheer. In the mean time, this solution is
nearing completion. It will enable the central registration of care for
patients with the rare diseases TTP and Mastocystosis. The solution is
currently in pilot phase, and will be adjusted and completed based on
pilot feedback. The expectation is that we will soon start with
pre-registration of patients with rare diseases.
Project milestone at Groot Klimmendaal
The
rehabilitation center Groot Klimmendaal has sucessfully completed the
first phase of a project for creating a "Client Historical Status
Overview". Modelled by VitalHealth Software, the solution has become
part of the medical record for rehabilitation patients in September.
With this step, the first phase of a rollout to all of Groot
Klimmendaal was completed.
The
solution has transformed the traditonally paper-based medical record to
a completely digital, user friendly and effective electronic medical
record. Several other rehabilitation centers have expressed interest in
the solution.
Mayo Primary Care Support
Early
September, the Mayo Clinic in Rochester (US) started a pilot with a
VitalHealth Platform based solution for Primary Care. The solution
providers medical staff and care givers with a quick overview of
relevant patient data, saving them significant time compared to
manually looking up this information in the individual applications
that make up the vast Mayo Electronic Medical Record. Apart from that,
the application generates recommended actions for the treatment of
patients with chronic diseases (initially Diabetes only), based on
national guidelines for care. It also generates reminders for
preventive services that are due, such as immunizations, mammographies,
colonoscopies and ultrasounds. In the next few montsh, the solution
will be rolled out to several departments within the Mayo Clinic. As a
next step, it will be enriched with support for additional and
co-morbid chronic diseases.
