November 2006
Welcome to our second newsletter! It has been a busy, yet exciting time since our last update. We have received a lot of interest in our mission. Many people have told us that our initiative is very relevant to their needs. We have made significant progress in developing the solutions to address these needs. Reactions to demonstrations of our solutions have been very favorable. In less than twelve months we have grown from an idea to being an established well-financed company with dedicated people, great products and enthusiastic customers. Who said that innovation in healthcare is slow…we beg to differ!
Below you find a brief update on some of the activities that have kept us fully engaged. For additional questions, do not hesitate to contact us!
The VitalHealth Team
November, 2006
Phase One of Primary Care project at Mayo Clinic
After
thorough review of the technical, functional and modeling capabilities
of our platform, the Mayo Clinic (Rochester, MN) has decided to go
ahead with a first phase of implementing our solution for its Primary
Care group. The solution initially focuses on point-of-care diabetes
management and decision support, along with preventive services, and
will integrate to existing systems for e.g. patient labs data. The
objective will be to generate a measurable improvement in outcomes over
a period of time.
Pilot project at Aveant
Aveant,
a large home care organization in Utrecht (NL) has selected us for a
pilot project for first-line diabetes management. The solution allows
Aveant and the family medicine physicians it partners with to more
effectively manage treatment of diabetes patients.
Groot Klimmendaal selects VitalHealth
After
a successful evaluation of the VitalHealth platform, Groot Klimmendaal
has decided to implement VitalHealth as the platform of choice for its
software solution modeling needs. Groot Klimmendaal is a well-known
Rehabilitation Center in the Netherlands, and will use the VitalHealth
platform to model and process its protocols, associated forms and
workflows. The solution will be used in hosted form by about 400 users.
We are excited to welcome Groot Klimmendaal as our customer.
VitalHealth is growing
In
the last few months we have added to our employee base, to support the
growing list of activities. Niels Steenbeek, Jan Nuyt and Bart-Jan de
Bruin have joined our development team to add many years of development
experience. Hero Torenbeek has joined us as a consultant and brings
years of Healthcare Industry experience. We welcome them to a dynamic
and growing team of professionals!
New release of VitalHealth Platform
This
month we will release version 2.0 of our platform, with many
significant architectural and functional enhancements. Some were
directly driven by existing customer projects, such as the ability to
dynamically hide or unhide data elements on forms or questionnaires,
one-time modeling of entire groups of data elements for re-use, and
more powerful operators and functions for our rules engine. We have
also added many architectural enhancements to enable better
performance, increased security and better abstraction levels for the
user interface device of choice, to name a few. We are proud to be able
to offer a robust platform for solution modeling.
VitalHealth Diabetes Management
Our
diabetes management solution is implemented as a set of models on top
of our platform. Although not yet available in final form, our
beta-release is now being used by pilot customers. Amongst other
features, the model contains functionality for managing patient
encounters, capturing vitals and labs, performing eye exams and foot
exams, monitoring patient status, and providing healthcare and
preventive services alerts. The models will continuously be enriched
based on customer feedback.
VitalHealth co-founds Disease Management Alliance
In
an effort to provide more harmonious solutions to the healthcare
market, VitalHealth has co-founded the “Disease Management Alliance”
with several vendors offering complementary solutions. The co-founders
in this alliance are CarePoint (provider of life-style coaching
programs such as Obesitas) and Fysicon (provider of web based solutions
for teleconsult and radiology). The objective of the alliance is to
work together in providing more complete and better integrated toolsets
for managing diseases. We will keep you posted of progress made by the
alliance.
