At the end of July 2007, VitalHealth Software has released an enhanced version of Vital for Diabetes. As of early August, the rollout of this version has started in the Almelo region in the Netherlands, in close cooperation with Diagnosis4Health. Already more than half of the family medicine practices in the region have migrated to new version with unanimous positive feedback.
Vital for Diabetes version 2.1 adds significant functionality to the already robust feature set of the prior release.
The rule set for decision support has been significantly expanded. These rules will e.g. alert care givers when lab values or vitals of a patient fall below minimum or exceed maximum threshold values, or tell them that an eye- or foot exam is due. More lab values have been added, as well as the possibility to examine labs and vitals with graphing functionality. Additionally, the feature set has been extended with the calculation of risk factors related to smoking, cardio vascular problems and heart failure.
Next to that, this release adds functionality for the recommendation of actions and delegation of task to various care givers and disciplines within a diabetes care group, including primary care as well as authorized second line specialists. Accounting tasks have been automated, while leaving full control over the exchange of information to the participants in the group.
Besides continuing the delivery of enhancements to Vital for Diabetes, the development of Vital for COPD and Asthma is nearing completion. As a joint effort between VitalHealth Software and Diagnosis4Health, this application has been modeled against the latest standards and guidelines in COPD and Asthma specific care. Next to that, the first lifestyle focused application “Vital to Quit Smoking” is also nearing completion. Pilot projects for these new applications will start in September of 2007.
With a robust portfolio of applications, VitalHealth Software enables complex and multi-disease management within a healthcare chain.
