UMC Utrecht selects VitalHealth Software for Dermatology

Online medical record for top quality multidisciplinary integrated network care for children with atopic eczema

The University Medical Center Utrecht has selected VitalHealth Software for the development of an integrated care network enabled online medical record for the Dermatology department. This medical record will support all care disciplines involved in providing care for children with severe atopic eczema and asthma (related syndrome), and will enable these children and their parents to actively participate in the care process. In this process, the UMC Utrecht closely cooperates with the Netherlands based Asthma Center Davos, where some of the patients are admitted for a period of about seven weeks. The quality of care will be subject to scientific study, with measurement results completely integrated into the medical record. This combination of care and scientific study within a single medical record is unique in its kind.

In this international medical record:

  • The patients and their parents will actively participate in the care process by including self-management functionality and questionnaires, as well as online communication and medical record access.
  • Eleven different care disciplines (including dermatology, child psychology and nurses) will cooperate in the care process using a single patient focused medical record.
  • Online caregiver-to-caregiver consultation and discussion will be enabled between the Wilhelmina Children’s Hospital and the Nederlands Asthmacentrum Davos.
  • The referring pediatrician or dermatologist will be kept up-to-date on the progress of treatment.
