MS Center Amsterdam launches national MS portal for patients and caregivers

Developed by VitalHealth Software with the VitalHealth Platform

During a symposium celebrating the 10-year anniversary of the MS Center Amsterdam (part of the University Medical Center), the MS Portal was launched as a national initiative for patients and caregivers dealing with the treatment of multiple sclerosis. The web based MS-portal enables patients, specialists of the MS Center Amsterdam and caregivers from hospitals elsewhere in the country to easily communicate with each other and contribute to a transmural electronic medical record.

The MS Portal enables:

  • Patients to ask question online, and to report their current disease relates issues and activities to the caregiver.
  • Secondary care caregivers to consult the MS Center or refer the patient to the MS Center.
  • Role based access to the electronic medic al record, with a single graphical overview of disease and treatment history, and click-through access to the medical record data and communication history.
  • Access to MS related news items and knowledge bases for patients and caregivers.

Various national newspapers have picked up on the initiative. The ‘Zorgkrant’ reports that the initiative is bound to improve the quality of care - and therefore quality of life - for MS patients. The ‘NRC Handelsblad’ states that the clear overview of the treatment history and current status will enable pointed and effective treatment advice.

In the past ten years the MS Center Amsterdam has established itself as a worldwide leading institution on the treatment of MS. With the release of the MS Portal, the center expects to further enhance its already excellent record of MS treatment and knowledge sharing.

VitalHealth Software developed the MS Portal over a period of several months in close cooperation with the MS Center Amsterdam.
