Diabetes Association partners with VitalHealth to deliver MyDVN portal
On Tuesday, January 19 2010, the Diabetes Association Netherlands (DVN) initiated the launch of www.MijnDVN.nl, an interactive portal for diabetes patients. As a partner of DVN, VitalHealth Software assisted DVN in the realization of the portal.
The partnership mainly focuses on the realization of the self-management functionality offered through MijnDVN. It provides online access to personal health record and care plan information – resulting from interaction between patient and care provider - to all diabetes patient in the Netherlands. To achieve this goal, VitalHealth and DVN collaborated on creating an open interface based on relevant integration standards. This enables care groups to easily connect to MijnDVN, independent of the physician information system or integrated care delivery network system used.
In the long run, VitalHealth and DVN have the intention to broaden their partnership. DVN is evaluating the possibility to expand the solution beyond diabetes care to include arthritis, asthma, COPD and cardio-vascular diseases. This can easily be realized with the use of the VitalHealth Platform. The platform’s model driven architecture is a powerful facilitator of the integration with or expansion to new and different solutions.
According to Laurens van der Tang, CEO of VitalHealth Software, the strategic partnership with DVN especially benefits the patients: “Given that other patient populations will eventually also be able to access the MijnDVN portal, it has the potential to become the national patient portal.”
Maarten Ploeg, CEO of DVN adds: “We chose VitalHealth because of their ideally suited platform offering, committed to making use of open standards. This ensures that in the long term we’ll be able to integrate with practically all supporting software used by care groups and networks.”
He continuous: “With the MijnDVN portal we want to create a connection between chronic disease patients and all parties involved in their care process. Through a personalized home page, patients can seek advice, order medications or view the status of claims processing. DVN assembles the personalized page in a stepwise approach. As a patient organization, the MijnDVN portal underlines our position as frontiers in the e-Health space.”
