Big!Move picks VitalHealth as strategic HIT-partner
National innovative network supported by VitalHealth Platform
Big!Move, a Dutch national franchise organization focused on health improvement for the general population, has chosen VitalHealth Software as its strategic Health IT partner. Together with Big!Move, VitalHealth is developing a web based solution that intrinsically supports the Big!Move methodology.
During a Big!Move session, participants engage in low threshold exercises to improve their health, either individually or in groups. Big!Move was established in 2003 in Amsterdam by physician Louis Overgoor and physiotherapist Marijn Aalders. The Big!Move methodology has proven to be very successful in the past few years, demonstrated by improved overall health of the participants with a decrease in consumption of medical services. Big!Move is financed by health insurance providers and local government in the cities of Amsterdam, Utrecht and Almere, and is rapidly expanding to other areas in the Netherlands. In the development and positioning of Big!Move, the supporting web based software from VitalHealth Software plays an important role.

In the web based Big!Move application:
- Coaches can monitor the participants, with complete and uniform registration of participant data per individual and per group. The solution supports coaches in adhering to the Big!Move methodology through intelligent functions like reminders and decision support.
- Participants can individually sign up for a Big!Move program, with the ability to document their own perception of their overall health status (based on the international ICF standard). Also, the solution enables them to electronically communicate with coaches and other participants.
- Physicians or other primary care professionals can refer patients to Big!Move programs, with direct insight into the progress of their patient’s health status.
- Overview and Reporting functionality is provided to local and central management of the Big!Move organization.
The solution is delivered in stages, with the first version to be utilized by Big!Move coaches in September 2009. Starting January 2010, the solution will also provide functionality for program participants.
